Diary in English♡August 17th
Today I studied English with my online teachers. Recently, I have been into news materials. I can learn not only English but also what happens all over the world that I've never known before.
The first topic I read was about recycling of whisky waste. The researchers in Scotland invented how to turn the whisky waste into fuel. The fuel will not be able to replace gasoline completely, but it is expected to reduce gasoline consumption.
My teacher and I talked about whisky. He said whisky is not common in the Philippines and he doesn't drink it. I was surprised to hear that. In Japan, I think whisky has become more popular among young men and women because we can choose a lot of ways to drink whisky, like whisky and soda, coke and ginger ale. In my case, I cannot drink whisky on the rocks, but I really like whisky with ginger ale. It's easy to drink and delicious.
The second topic was about the world's highest village in India. They have a serious problem. They're running out of water. I thought they should control and manage the water supply infrastructure. The water isn't purified enough and they use polluted water. I looked up about the water pollution problem in India before the lesson and I found an article. It said that they have not paid any money for water. It is common to use water for free, so it is difficult to change their mind to pay for clean water. They don't consider that and try to solve the water problem going so far as paying for it.
I found both topics interesting.
In the evening, I went to a French restaurant with one of my friends. We talked about my move to the UK and his experience of studying in the UK. I cannot speak English, so it would be hard for me to live in the UK. I have a mixed emotions. I am worried about it but I am excited.
What he tells me is always logical and I always feel like I am wrong. Today he didn't agree with my way to study English. I think my way suits me, but what he said had a valid point. So I want to try the way to study English that he recommended. I always want to be the person who can try to do anything instead of denying it.
